Portland stands for Digital and Human Rights in response to the war in Ukraine
The digital world is increasingly becoming a space where actions impact real world people. Currently, calculated attacks have disrupted digital systems, and biometric and other personal information has been used for both, nefarious and humanitarian purposes. It is important that as a City, we demonstrate a strong position in support for Digital Rights.
Mayor Ted Wheeler and Commissioner Rubio have signed a letter in support of Digital Rights in Ukraine and Portland. The letter highlights the support to the Coalition of Cities for Digital Rights membership suspension of the City of Moscow and other actions in support of the Digital Rights of the people in Ukraine.

This letter was the result of a collective effort from the Smart City PDX program, the Office of Community Technology, and the Office of Equity and Human Rights. All these agencies and programs are currently involved in different aspects of digital rights sponsored by Portland City Council.
Join the City efforts on Digital Rights by helping us with the development of the surveillance technologies policy or join the Digital Inclusion Network (DIN) effort as well. Together, we can build the Digital City that works for all regardless of who you are.
